Momostenango Weavers Cooperative

Members of the Momostenango Weavers Cooperative live in the mountains of Guatemala in the town of Momostenango.  They make blankets, rugs and ponchos using traditional techniques, motifs and designs that they have used for generations.  This cooperative raises sheep, sheers the wool, spins it into yarn and the weaves the pieces on a floor loom.   The co-op members live at 7,000 feet altitude. The nights are cold and they have no central heat so the warm blankets and clothing are essential to them.
