This cotton throw is the ‘kaitya’ stitch to mimic the whorl of Shashti’s wheel. Shashti, a Hindu goddess, is known for her benevolence to children and is a goddess of bounty and health; the wheel is her symbol. The fine cotton cloth has 4 layers and is hand embroidered with black pinwheel designs done in black thread. This is signed by the artist. Colors black thread on white cotton; hand stitched quilting in background. Very soft. This is purchased from a Fair Trade women's group in West Bengal, India.
