Hand dyed silk scarf using three traditional techniques: Bandhani, Clamp dying and Kantha. Bandhani (tie dye) is a traditional dye technique where very small dots of the cloth are tied with string to resist the dye. The bottom of the scarf is clamp dyed to make white diamond patterns. The fabric is died black. The scarf has a interesting puckered texture due to the dye process. This scarf then has a fine hand stitched edge of kantha stitches (running stitches) in various colors. The combination of techniques makes for a beautiful and unusual scarf. A very nice weight for all seasons. 100% silk.
