Beautiful cotton fabric dyed with natural dyes. We are happy to be selling hand dyed yardage from the workshop of Dr Ishmael Khatri and son Sufiyan Khatri. The Khatris are a 4th generation block printing family. Working in the village of Bhuj , Gujarat, they are credited with reviving the tradition of natural dying and the block printing industry in India. Recently they have been expanding in to Bandhani- tie dying. This is a wavy line pattern done by stitching pleats of cloth with thread to resist the dye. Colors range from soft rust to brick. This lightweight fabric sold by the yard would make great clothing or curtains. Read more about Sufiyan Khatri's workshop on our blog.

This fabric is just gorgeous with its delicate uneven pattern--the technique of shibori--the beautiful colorway, and, not the least, the feel of the cotton, lightweight and soft.
