Beautiful cotton fabric dyed with natural dyes. We are happy to be selling hand dyed yardage from the workshop of Dr Ishmael Khatri and son Sufiyan Khatri. The Khatris are a 17th generation block printing family. Working in the village of Bhuj , Gujarat, they are credited with reviving the tradition of natural dying and the block printing industry in India. Recently they have been expanding in to Bandhani- tie dying. This pattern was made by tightly tying small circles with thread before dying. Then the fabric was dyed in yellow and indigo to give the lime green color. When the ties were removed they created the floral pattern. This lightweight fabric sold by the yard would make great clothing or curtains. It may be too lightweight for quilts.
