Boucherouite Rugs. These woven rugs are a fairly recent new folk art form that arose out of a wool shortage in the 60's. Without wool, the weavers reached for whatever was at hand: clothing scraps, tailors remnants and more and more.
This vintage hand knotted one-of-a-kind boucherouite we bought from a weaving cooperative outside of Marrakech. Wool, rag, mixed fibers. This rug would add a shot of color to your decor and would look great as a wall hanging, too. Colors: Midnight black, marine blue, mint green, fresh grass green, saffron, red, cream, burgundy, light sand and more.
