Handwoven using handspun wool from local sheep. We first visited Shyamji’s studio in 2016 when our guide took us to his workshop, located down a dusty cow-path in Bhuj, the western part of the Kutch, India. Inside the family compound, women spun wool and cotton and dyers tended live vats of indigo buried in earthenware jugs submerged underground. The rhythmic ‘clack clack clack’ of the loom provided the soundscape.
We fell in love with the indigo colors and designed these bed coverings on the spot. The central panel has beautiful variations of medium indigo blue. Colors of stripes: burnt orange, deep red and creamy wheat. Woven exclusively for Cultural Cloth.
Hand spun, hand woven and natural dyed. Dry clean recommended.
