Our guide brought us to Shyamji’s studio located down a dusty cow-path in Bhuj, the western part of the Kutch, India. Inside the family compound, women spun wool and cotton and dyers tended live vats of indigo buried in earthenware jugs submerged underground. The rhythmic ‘clack clack clack’ of the loom provided the soundscape. A beautiful blend of natural white and indigo blue yarn. Very simple and elegant. The hand wrapped fringe indigo blue.
