Exquisite hand embroidery done by women in Santiago Atitlan. We bought this used panel while in Santiago Atitlan. This is the traditional cloth used in men's pants or women's blouses of the Tz'utujil Maya people. Very fine detail in each different bird. The handwoven cotton cloth is white with dark burgundy vertical stripes. There are many of different birds embroidered in a variety of greens, with some brown, tan, black and gold. This could be framed, hung on the wall or made into a pillow. We can't get over how beautiful these embroideries are. One of a kind.
