Handwoven using handspun wool from local sheep. We first visited Shyamji’s studio in 2016 when our guide took us to his workshop, located down a dusty cow-path in Bhuj, the western part of the Kutch, India. Inside the family compound, women spun wool and cotton and dyers tended live vats of indigo buried in earthenware jugs submerged underground. The rhythmic ‘clack clack clack’ of the loom provided the soundscape.
We fell in love with this rustic, hand spun wool bed coverings on the spot. Simple, elegant, timeless. Expect slight color variations throughout. Natural brown and white hand spun wool. Woven in 3 panels, the center panel is slighter lighter shades of fleece than the outer 2 panels. The panels are joined with a hand stitched seam that gives another beautiful detail to the quilt. This is a a rough hand spun so not very soft. Click here to learn more about Shyamji and his group of weavers. Styled with Moroccan pillows and hand woven rug.
